BELGRADE, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited the construction site of the E-763 highway section from Preljina to Pozega on Monday, where he announced that the section will be opened by June 28.

The 30.9-km stretch, built by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), will provide a critical link between Belgrade and western Serbia. During the tour, Vucic praised the quality of the new infrastructure, noting that its completion would save many lives by replacing hazardous sections of the existing main road to Zlatibor and Montenegro. He added that the highway would improve road safety, significantly ease travel, and boost tourism development.

Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming, who accompanied Vucic on the tour, emphasized that Serbia and China are "iron friends" and expressed hope for further cooperation on similar infrastructure projects.

Once completed, the E-763 highway will directly connect Belgrade with western Serbia, reducing travel time between Belgrade and the popular tourist resort of Mt Zlatibor. Due to the challenging terrain, nearly a third of the section consists of tunnels and bridges.
