KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's median monthly wages in the formal sector grew 6 percent year-on-year in 2024, official data showed Tuesday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the median monthly wages rose to 3,045 ringgit (703 U.S. dollars) with a 5 percent growth in December 2024.
The median monthly wages were higher as compared to 2,764 ringgit in both November and October 2024.
According to the DOSM, the increase indicated a better labor market landscape, in line with a growing economic expansion in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The number of citizens in the formal sector also continued to show a year-on-year increase, with a growth of 2.3 percent in December 2024. ■
